i am watching the live feed of the Michael Jackson memorial service and boy i lost it at the end part when Michael's daughter Paris talked and thanked his daddy. "ever since i was born daddy has been the best father that you can ever imagine... and i just wanted to say i love him so much..." my tears just welled up hearing this girl. *sniff sniff* such short but powerful speech. she essentially got the most compelling and moving words of the entire service. she channeled the same emotion as i did when my own mother died. *sigh*
before Paris' speech, it was one of his brothers speaking, Marlon if i remember it right. i enjoyed hearing his story about Michael having to disguise (with some fake hair and no slip-ons) and went to a local store. when Marlon found him he called for him and said, "Michael what are you doing here?" to which MJ responded, "how did you know it was me?" haha i love that part :) Marlon responded, "because you're my brother. i know you." oh such a sweet brotherly love.
some of the highlights of the program included John Mayer's instrumental rendition of Human Nature (awesome!!), Brooke Shields' telling of the crazy little things they did together when MJ was being himself, Magic Johnson's story about how surprised he is Michael actually loves Kentucky Fried Chicken which he brought to one of their meetings, and some other personal accounts of people who knew MJ. the artists performances of course; Mariah Carey, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, his brother Jermaine and others. a really special service for a special artist.
if you haven't seen these, then youtube is your friend.
