Michael Jackson: 1958 - 2009
Michael Jackson died about an hour ago in UCLA hospital due to cardiac arrest. yes, the Elvis Presley of my generation has passed away. CNN reports that he fell into a coma for some minutes before expiring. he's 50.
i'm sure for a lot of us of the same generation, we have lost one of the greatest artists and musical legend of our time. that high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. the glove. white socks. the crotch-grabbing dance moves. moonwalk (my goodness all my life i tried imitating this but i just can't). tight military jackets and the aviator glasses. who could ever forget? my all-time favorites would include "Billie Jean", "Thriller", "Man in the Mirror", "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "Heal the World".
he was actually preparing for a series of big concerts which start next month in UK until April of next year. i won't even call it a comeback. we haven't seen him in major performances for years now and i'd love to see him again performing on the big stage.
talented and troubled as he is, he transcends millions of hearts and souls through his music and i believe that is what he will be remembered for. timeless. universal. even beyond words.
