where hypocrisy happens

for us avid basketball fans, it's the time of the year when we determine "where amazing happens". it's the NBA playoffs! and this is what i go gaga over with for the past few days (aside from a little betting on the side hehe). but when games are over, i scourge the web for, you know, other daily hot topics, mapa-tv patrol man or cnn. and this is what i came up upon last Monday. watch for yourselves..

if you're a blogger and gay, you probably have chanced upon Perez Hilton's blog one way or the other (go google, i don't wanna link it here). if you're just gay, then probably you've heard his name before. if you're Piolo Pascual, then that's a different story.

i am not a gay blogger (this i'm sure), and certainly not gay (this.. uhmm.. i still have to convice myself), but i know this guy. err gay. i know him but not in an intimate way of course. he started this already blown out of proportion controversy by asking Miss California Carrie Prejean if she thinks other US states should follow suit in allowing same-sex marriage, after Vermont. it seems that Hilton was none too pleased that Prejean chose to actually be honest and give her personal opinion on the sensitive issue. she did not even say she hates gay people or that gay people are scum of this earth yet he ripped her in his blog afterwards and even made a video blog, whining, bitching and sounding downright bitter (go search youtube).

wth, never ask a question when you're unprepared for the answer! it's plain stupid. isn't the whole point of asking a question is to get someone's true feelings? rather than all the superficial "world peace" and plastic answers we're all used to hear.

she opposes it and that's OK. that's here personal opinion. what if Miss California answered "yeah i support gay marriage"? would Perez then praise her and call her an open-minded and great person rather than calling her "half a brain" in his video blog? would she then be celebrated on gay-focused blogs, websites and magazines? see, that's the price of having to straight talk nowadays.

i've followed keenly the US presidential election last year and President Obama and VP Joe Biden (then candidates) both share the same belief: that marriage is between a man and a woman. add Hilary and Bill Clinton to the list. these are American liberals who happen to have the same belief as Ms. Prejean yet they are praised for their opinions. or let's put it the other way around. Ms. Prejean, who is a beauty pageant, happens to share the same belief and opinion as these liberals but she is being shred to pieces. where hypocrisy happens. really.

personally, i don't understand what all this deal is about gays getting married. if i may say so, marriage i believe is a responsibility, not a selfish pleasure, to raise up a family with your children borne of you both. gays can't have kids thus they can't marry. simple. end of story.

at the end of the day, we all have to be true to ourselves. anyone who is in favor or against an issue should not be condemned. tha day we condemn folks for speaking honestly is the day we become hypocrites.

now back to the NBA...
